As an artist would chose a medium best suited to acheive the look they desire, so must we.  These mediums can be used stand alone, but are most effective when integrated within each other. Often different mediums can be used to achieve the same result. Let

HTML 4.0 and ASP's- HTML is the core language of the Internet. 4.0 is the most current version of HTML.  Active Server Pages are dynamically generated page, use when trying to keep your content current.

Macromedia Flash 3- Flash by Macromedia is a new fast and exciting way of presenting content and animation to viewer. If the the navigation bar on this page has drop down menus, the you have already seen some of its uses.

Java / V.B. Scripts- A "behind the scenes" language with an extremely wide variety of uses.   Anything from mouseover buttons to complex database functions are possible.

Java Applets- A universal language with a wide variety of applications. Anything from animating a static image to live chat is possible.
